SNF to raise PAM capacity by 50% by end of 2012
The expansion project should increase SNFs capacity to 580,000 tonnes/year, the company said. The increase should help the company meet demand from municipal water-treatment, mining and oil recovery.
Expansion began this month after permits for the constuction of its $350m (€277m) polymers plant in Plaquemine, Louisana, were approved.
The site in Iberville parish will initially produce acrylamide monomer and PAM powder for the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) market, the company said.
SNF will also expand plants in Taixing, China, and Andrezieux, France, the company said.
SNF also plans to produce polyacrylamide emulsions and liquid at a new plant in Vizag, India, and 10,000 tonnes/year of powder polyacrylamide at a new plant at Ulsan in South Korea.
