SNF (UK) Ltd achieve Opex savings on Sludge Dewatering Plant

A medium sized waste water treatment works dewatering co-settled primary/SAS sludge via 2 x decanting centrifuges. The sludge is then exported to a THP plant where it is conditioned with a high charge cationic emulsion polymer prior to dewatering.

In conjunction with the customer SNF (UK) Ltd proposed a change of polymer from emulsion to powder following extensive site trials. The data collected during the trials identified tangible opex savings which involved a change of product and a modification to the existing polymer make up equipment.

A 50% saving in dosage achieved, so far which equates to a 30% opex saving.
